ThrIVe Drip Spa

Thrive Drip Spa Houston
My usual therapy for a hangover is some gatorade, lots of water, a greasy cheeseburger, and maybe a bloody mary.  What if I told you that you could drive over to I10 and Wirt and get hooked up to a party drip to get you back on your feet?  Would you do it?

My sister and I attended the grand opening for ThrIVe Drip Spa to learn more about the IV trend.  We entered the large white tent blasting EDM, grabbed a glass of champagne, and took a few photos at the Smilebooth first.

We couldn't walk straight into the spa and naturally had to make a few pit stops for shrimp cocktail, tuna, and caprese.  I'd be lying if I said that seeing "lite bites provided by Eddie V's" didn't convince me to attend.

Again, please remember that my blog is not solely to promote the good.  I ventured into the blogging world to bring truth to the market, so if something rubs me the wrong way, you better believe I'll tell you.

We walked into the spa, greeted with the smell of Eucalyptus and Sage, and began exploring the different areas.  The whole concept felt a bit odd to me: You walk in, choose your drip, and are walked to the main area where you sit in a plush, grey chair.  Sit back, relax, and enjoy your drip.

I browsed over the menu and read about the different drips: Hydrate Drip, Fit Drip, Slim Drip, Beauty Drip, Libido Drip, Detox Drip, Party Drip, and Myers Drip.  If you're interested in their prices and details, you can read more about them here.  The spa also offers laser hair removal, injectables, skin services, and cryotherapy.  I was pretty impressed with the cryotherapy prices: $50 for members and $60 for non-members, which are slightly lower than other rates I've seen.

Head to their about page to read more about the spa, the 30 minute sessions, and to check out the marketing material they featured: an fit dude holding a water bottle slightly touching his neck like it just might kind of hurt.  Just a little bit.  Enough to need a $100+ IV, you know?

ThrIVe offers different pricing options for members and non-members.  So yes, you can buy a membership to get your veins poked.  One of the employees even recommended a membership for business meetings.  I think I'd rather grab a cup of coffee.  Hell, if we're going to spend some money to "better ourselves" at this business meeting, you can take me to get a facial.

Keeping it real: Would I buy a single session or a membership?  No.  I felt like I was watching Vanderpump Rules live, but with needles.  Fads like this make me roll my eyes.  They're expensive, a "quick fix", and try to lure you in with attractive employees.  I'm a firm believer that if you want to better yourself, you need to put the work in.  Dehydrated?  Get your ass some water.  Sore?  Stretch.  Hungover?  Drink water, eat something, and sleep.  Craving a "beauty drip"?  Invest in some quality skincare and fix your diet.  Think you need that libido drip?  Eat some oysters, tune into your sex drive, and figure out what's not working for you.  Put the money that you'd spend on one IV and invest in a bomb gym membership.

Don't fall victim to every fad you see celebrities engaging in.  They have money to blow, and they're probably getting another check by promoting the business.  Just because something costs money and claims to make you beautiful, hydrated, and enhance your sex drive doesn't mean it works.  It's a business.  I won't purchase something to make myself feel elitist and fancy.

Let me know if you would try this out, and please chime in with your thoughts!
