How To Get A Better Night's Sleep

how to get better sleep
Happy Monday everyone!  I wish we could bottle up the mood on a Sunday morning and just keep it forever!

I think we all struggle to find the answer to a perfect night's sleep.  I've been struggling a bit lately with sleeping through the night and have been trying different tips and switching things up to try and catch a few extra Zs through the evening.  There are so many factors that go into a good night's rest, but here are a handful of my tips that have worked wonders for me:

Get rid of light - I'm not just talking about turning off the lights and closing your blinds or curtains.  You should do that too, but I'm talking about the blue light that your phone emits.  Chances are you probably sleep with your phone on your nightstand (I do, too), and that's fine if you're using it as an alarm.  I can't stress enough how big of a difference putting my phone on "do not disturb" mode has made.  Your phone won't light up with any notifications while it's locked, so once you lock your phone and plug it in for the night, the screen will stay black until your dreaded alarm goes off in the AM.  Also, put your phone on silent if you're not already.  If you're not already doing that....you're insane.

Pay attention to your sheets - A good set of satin or silk sheets does wonders for your sleep, and they're super cozy and just make you feel like a princess.  Not only are they soft on your skin, they help keep your body temperature lower which is key for better sleep.  I recently bought this set on Amazon and couldn't be happier with them.  They come in a few different colors, but this taupe color is gorgeous and looks way more expensive than they are!  Plus, a satin or silk pillowcase is better for your hair and skin and prevents anti-aging or breakage.

Sleepwear - Like your sheets, the clothing you sleep in can make a pretty big difference in your sleep quality.  I've never understood people who can sleep in pants in socks.  I just can't do it.  Opt for something light and loose, a silky piece, or just sleep nude.  You're less likely to wake up in a pool of sweat.  Here are a few of my favorite silky numbers:

Workout - Getting in a good sweat or lift before bed always helps me go to sleep, and I'm sometimes so tired to the point where I feel delirious and can't keep my eyes open.  I love the feeling of heavy, tired legs before sleep and after a good workout.

Get into a routine - Figure out a routine that works for you.  A nighttime routine of some sort lets your body know that it's time to sleep and helps you wind down naturally.  My routine usually consists of dinner, a shower, skincare routine, and watching TV for a bit before bed.  Get into the habit of setting a routine for yourself as you wind down!

If you have any miracle tips for the best sleep let me know in the comments!  Also I'm eyeing the satin sheets in black and think I might have to add them to my cart...
